CompEx Exam in GCC

The CompEx Exam, short for Competency in Ex-Hazardous Areas, is a certification that verifies the competency of individuals working in potentially explosive atmospheres. In the GCC countries, which include Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, the CompEx certification is highly sought after by employers in industries such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, and mining.

The CompEx Exam assesses the knowledge and skills of individuals who work with electrical equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres. The exam is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical exam covers topics such as the principles of explosion protection, the types of hazardous areas, and the requirements for selecting and installing equipment in hazardous areas. The practical exam tests the individual’s ability to apply these principles in a simulated hazardous environment.

To be eligible to take the CompEx Exam in the GCC countries, individuals must have relevant experience working with electrical equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres. The number of years of experience required varies depending on the level of certification being sought. For example, to take the CompEx Ex01-Ex04 certification, individuals must have at least two years of relevant experience. To take the CompEx Ex05-Ex06 certification, individuals must have at least five years of relevant experience.

The CompEx certification is recognized by many companies in the GCC countries as a requirement for employment in hazardous areas. In addition, the certification is often a mandatory requirement for contractors and sub-contractors working in the oil and gas, petrochemicals, and mining industries. Employers value the CompEx certification because it demonstrates that the individual has the necessary knowledge and skills to work safely in hazardous environments.

The CompEx Exam in the GCC countries is administered by licensed training providers who have been authorized by the Joint Industry Board (JIB) to provide CompEx training and certification.

Kingsmen offer both theoretical and practical training, as well as practice exams, to prepare individuals for the CompEx Exam. The training is delivered by experienced trainers who have in-depth knowledge of the principles of explosion protection and the requirements for selecting and installing equipment in hazardous areas.
